Get five markers in a row (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal), or
Capture 5 pairs of an opponent’s markers.
Basic Rules
The board is 19×19 (like a Go board). Columns are labeled A–S and rows 1–19.
Teams take turns placing one colored marker on an empty intersection.
First move must be placed exactly in the center (row 10, column J).
The same team that moved first must place their second move at least 3 spaces away from the center.
After that, any empty space is legal.
Capturing
You capture a pair when you sandwich exactly two consecutive opponent markers between two of your own markers.
Example pattern: Your color – Opponent – Opponent – Your color
Captured markers turn gray briefly, then are removed from the board.
Each captured pair counts as 1 toward your total. Reach 5 pairs to win.
How This Classroom Version Works
Choose 2, 3, or 4 teams and give each team a name (and optionally list the students on that team).
The teacher clicks the “Select [Team]” button to decide whose turn it is. This keeps the game orderly in class.
After a team places a marker, the status message tells the teacher to select the next team.
Wins and total pairs captured are tracked for each team across multiple games.
Winning
Five-in-a-row (any direction) → immediate win.
5 pairs captured → immediate win.
The game announces the winner and plays a sound. Use the reset buttons to play again.
Game ready. Select a team to place the first move in the center.
